The Bull of Cuailgne.
Long, long ago,one evening in the province of Connacht in Ireland there lived Queen Medb and her husband Aillile in their kingdom. Looking out at their land Aillile said ‘You are the richest women I know.’ Queen Medb said ‘I am not. I wonder who is the richest, me or you?’
Queen Medb said ‘I own more than you!’
Aillile shouted out ‘I’m much richer than you!’
The only way they could settle it was to see who owned the most land. Everything was equal until Aillile’s huge bull came. Medb got her messenger to find a big bull and he did in Ulster. When they came there was a big celebration. The owner was Daire and he agreed to Medb she could have him for a year. And so Queen Medb won her battle with the bull.
