Brian Rua.
According to Micheal O Tiomanaigh, Brian Rua was born near Inver and dwelt in Fal Rua .Brian Rua was a kind man like his neighbours. It was a stormy day and he heard an old widow asking her landlord for an extension of time to pay her rent. The landlord said have you anybody to go surety for you? She said" I have only God". To which the landlord replied "I'd like you to have someone else but God". Brian Rua took pity on this poor woman and paid her rent out of his own pocket saying he could take God as his surety. Brian was not poor ever again. From that day on he got the gift of prophecy. On his way home he fell asleep and when he woke he found a jewel in his right sleeve of his coat. The jewel revealed what was going to happen in Ireland from that day on.
Brian Rua lived in a house a few minutes walk from our school. One of his prophecys that came true was calles Scéal í mBarr Bataí. He said a story would travel faster on two poles from Dublin to Blacksod than a hawk would fly. This is referring to our telephone or internet connections nowadays. He wrote some of his prophecys but he threw them in a lake in Bellacorick. He got the gift of prophecy in 1648. He was born in the early 17th century and died in the late 17th century. He does not have any decendants who are still alive today. He was called Brian Rua because of his red hair. He was a farmer for a living.
